Japanese Jizai Kagi Hearth Hook . A striking Japanese adjustable hearth hook, known as a jizai kagi, circa 1950. Traditionally suspended above an irori sunken hearth to hold a cooking pot, it features a beautifully carved wooden koi and a long bamboo shaft. Richly patinated with age, this functional household object makes an impressive piece of Japanese folk art.
