Japanese Kodansu Chest, circa 1880
A charming late Edo to early Meiji period Japanese kodansu, crafted from kiri paulownia and sugi cedar. The compact chest features a cupboard, lower drawer and decorative hand-forged iron fittings. Its warm, well-aged timber and original patina give this small storage chest wonderful character and authenticity.
