Antique Hikone region Sideboard or Mizuya-Dansu (Kitchen Chest) the top section. Construction is Hinoki (Japanese Cypress) frame (Front) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) box with Keyaki (Zelkova) door panels and drawer fronts. The Hardware are hand beaten iron crescent moon shaped handles. A very versatile chest because of it’s dimensions and configuration it can be used for the storage of cutlery, crockery, tableware, linen, liquor, books or stereo and a TV stand. The top has been reinforced with a 40mm x 40mm piece of cedar to accommodate heavier weights.
