Japanese Vintage Maru Obi Sash Table Runner.
A Maru Obi is the most formal and luxurious type of obi sash worn with Kimono. Developed during the Edo period, it was originally worn by high-ranking women and later by brides and geisha.
Unlike later obi styles, a maru obi is fully patterned on both sides, woven from a single, continuous length of richly brocaded silk. Because of its heavy embroidery and metallic thread, it is thick and structured, creating dramatic, sculptural knots.
In fair condition there is a bit of wear on the edges.
330 mm’s wide and 4000 mm’s long.
