Japanese Vintage Maru Obi Sash Table Runner.

A maru obi is the most formal and luxurious type of obi sash worn with Kimono. Developed during the Edo period, it was originally worn by high-ranking women and later by brides and geisha.

Unlike later obi styles, a maru obi is fully patterned on both sides, woven from a single, continuous length of richly brocaded silk. Because of its heavy embroidery and metallic thread, it is thick and structured, creating dramatic, sculptural knots.

In good condition.

330 mm’s wide and 4000 mm’s long.
