A stunning Osaka Region Merchant Chest (Cho-Ba Dansu). A typical Merchant Chest is made up of multiple drawers, compartments and a secret drawer. Merchants used these chests in the shop front in pride of place exhibiting the owner’s prosperity. The hardware is hand beaten Iron metal work. It was used for the storage of ledgers, ink, paper, documents and writing paraphernalia. Edo Arts imports these chests personally from Japan.
