Large Imari ware plate with extensive Kinsugi gold repair.
This beautiful plate is decorated with a large phoenix, flowers with gold edging and green Kirin with scales.
The back side of the plate features a lovely blue and white floral design – and where the Kinsugi repair is most obvious.
There has been extensive Kinsugi gold repair on this plate.
Kinsugi is a traditional Japanese method of repairing broken ceramics using gold powder.
Instead of hiding cracks, it highlights them, turning damage into part of the object’s story.
