Kyoto Region Mizuya Dansu Kitchen Chest Sideboard. The top has been braced to accommodate heavy weights. This Kyoto kitchen chest, or mizuya dansu, circa 1910 is a stunning example of traditional Japanese cabinetry. Crafted from Hinoki (Japanese Cypress), Sugi (Japanese Cedar) and Kaki (Persimmon) wood it features sliding doors, intricate joinery, and ample storage. A functional and elegant heirloom of timeless craftsmanship with hand forged copper crescent moon handles. The back timber has been replaced with plywood.
