Antique Kyoto Region Sideboard or Mizuya-Dansu (Kitchen Chest). The construction is a Japanese Cypress frame a Cryptomeria front with Zelkova door panels and drawer fronts. The Hardware is hand beaten copper Crescent Moon shaped handles. Because of it’s configuration and dimensions its a very versatile chest that can be used for the storage of tableware, linen, liquor, books, stereo or a TV stand. The top has been reinforced with a 40mm x 40mm piece of cedar to accommodate heavier weights. Meiji Period 1867-1912.
