A Clothing Chest from Tokyo Region, a Kannon Biraki (Opening Door) in 2 sections. Meiji Period 1868-1912. Wood: Kiri Paulownia . The top section has a pair of hinged doors which open to reveal two large drawers and two small drawers, one of which has a hidden compartment. The bottom section has two large drawers. The hardware is all hand forged iron with chunky hirute shaped drawer pulls, U shaped Lock plates and extensive corner and side bracing.
