Japanese Ko Choba Dansu Merchant Chest. A smaller size Merchant’s Chest.
Merchant’s Chest or Cho-Ba Dansu are made up of multiple drawers, compartments and a secret drawer. They were used by shop merchant’s.
These chests were in pride of place exhibiting the owner’s prosperity.
It is made of Paulownia and Japanese Cypress. It was used for the storage of ledgers, ink, paper, documents and writing paraphernalia.
