Gifu Region Mizuya Dansu Kitchen Chest Sideboard.
A beautiful example of a Mizuya Dansu (kitchen chest top section) from the Hikone Region in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture. Dated in the early 20th century, this piece showcases Meiji era craftsmanship, constructed using traditional joinery and featuring hand forged iron hardware.
Made from a combination of Hinoki (Japanese Cypress), Sugi (cedar) and Keyaki (Zelkova) woods, this sideboard offers both strength and elegance. The natural grain of the wood is highlighted in the sliding doors and drawer fronts, while the well worn patina adds warmth and authenticity.
Designed for functionality and beauty, it includes multiple drawers and spacious compartments. The top section ha been braced to support heavier items, making it ideal for modern use such as sideboard, TV cabinet or display and storage.
