Meiji Period Osaka Region Merchant Chest. Has some unusual metal designs incorporated with the original hardware. This is a Meiji Period chest from the Osaka Region. This type of Chest is known as a Choba Dansu in Japan. It was used in the shop front in pride of place. All the drawers were used to organise and store receipts and ledgers.
