A rare Antique Kyoto Region 5 Shaku Sideboard or Mizuya-Dansu (Kitchen Chest) bottom section. The construction is a Japanese Cryptomeria frame and Japanese Cypress front with Zelkova door panels and drawer fronts. The Hardware is hand beaten iron handles. Because of it’s configuration and dimensions its a very versatile chest that can be used for the storage of tableware, linen, liquor, books, stereo or a TV stand. The top has been reinforced with a 40mm x 40mm piece of cedar to accommodate heavier weights. Meiji Period 1867-1912.
