Circa 1880’s Japanese Hotai-san set of 7 – Unfired Clay
Originating in Kyoto’s Fushimi region, it often depicts smiling, plump figures. These dolls were hardened by hearth smoke rather than kiln-firing, enhancing their rustic charm.
In good condition for their age and period.
