Wakasa-nuri (lacquerware) has three well-known techniques: “rankaku pattern”, which uses egg shells; “kaigara pattern”, which uses seashells; and “okoshi pattern”, which uses rice husks or pine needles. These are all signature techniques of Wakasa-nuri.
